ThinkAsperger’s Outreach 2014-2015

ThinkAsperger's Outreach News

  • At the start of the 2014-15 school year, SARRC encouraged educators and parents to “Think Asperger’s” by becoming aware of the signs with an awareness campaign. The campaign leveraged PSAs, strategically placed media stories and social media to generate awareness, as well as the distribution of 45,000 ThinkAsperger’s branded “chatterboxes” to 380 schools throughout the State.

  • In conjunction with autism awareness month, SARRC hosted a second national webinar for educators in April, led by SARRC’s Vice President & Research Director Christopher J. Smith, PhD. The interactive webinar attracted over 1,500 pre-registered participants. To date, over 3,000 teachers have participated in our webinar programming.

  • In Spring 2015, we launched a targeted awareness campaign for physicians that is designed to shine a spotlight on the subtle signs of autism and Asperger’s in school-age children. The first of its kind, this four-month awareness campaign is made possible through a partnership with the Arizona Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AzAAP).

  • In June 2015, SARRC will be participating in AzAAP’s annual conference, with several on-site presentations and educational opportunities for pediatricians. The weekend will culminate with SARRC’s Co-Founder & Medical Director, Dr. Raun Melmed presenting information about autism spectrum disorder in school-age children for an anticipated 100 pediatricians.
