The Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC) is providing parents with a valuable opportunity to assess their children’s developmental progress through a free developmental screening event at our new Mesa campus. This is a great opportunity for families to get questions answered about their child’s development and learn more about our preschool program, which provides all-day high-quality care to children with and without autism ages 15 months to 5 years.
A screening is recommended for parent(s)/caregiver(s) who have concerns about their child’s development; observe that they are not achieving milestones that other children are; or notice behaviors that seem out of the ordinary.
The screening will take approximately 15 minutes based on the child’s age and the responses provided. Parent(s)/caregiver(s) will consult with a member of SARRC’s clinical team who will utilize a standardized and valid procedure to assess whether a formal evaluation is recommended. Following the screening, a SARRC team member may advise that a formal autism diagnostic evaluation is recommended.
Please note: Developmental screenings are not an autism evaluation. However, based on responses and eligibility, a developmental evaluation by a licensed professional may be offered at a later date, free of cost.
SARRC’s Community School is a preschool that provides high-quality early childhood education for both children with and without autism in a blended classroom environment.
