Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC) is teaming up with The Village – Parenthood Happiness Center of Mesa for a free developmental screening event, offering parents a valuable chance for parents to ensure their children’s developmental progress is on track.
A screening is recommended for parent(s)/caregiver(s) who have concerns about their child’s development; observe that they are not achieving milestones that other children are; or notice behaviors that seem out of the ordinary.
The screening will take approximately 15 minutes based on the child’s age and the responses provided. Parent(s)/caregiver(s) will consult with a member of SARRC’s clinical team who will utilize a standardized and valid procedure to assess whether a formal evaluation is recommended. Following the screening, a SARRC team member may advise that a formal autism diagnostic evaluation is recommended.
Please note: Developmental screenings are not an autism evaluation. However, based on responses and eligibility, a developmental evaluation by a licensed professional may be offered at a later date, free of cost.
If necessary, families with children under 36 months will be provided information on how to access free diagnostic evaluations at a later date.
