“Autism is my superpower,” says Bodie Bernosky, reflecting on the early days when he joined SARRC’s Community School back in 2008.
His family heartily agrees. “He’s right,” says his father, Greg Bernosky. “Individuals with autism are capable of amazing things and have a worldview that should be celebrated and supported as much as possible.”
For the Bernoskys, that philosophy has guided a relationship with SARRC that spans nearly two decades. From the moment Bodie was diagnosed, the family sought support, community, and guidance — and what began as a search for resources quickly became a lasting bond.
Over the years, their involvement has deepened. Greg now serves on SARRC’s board of directors, leads the Public Policy Committee, and is a familiar face at events throughout the year. Meanwhile, Bodie is a founding and active member of SARRC’s Self-Advocate Advisory Board.
The Bernoskys’ commitment extends beyond involvement — they’ve also joined SARRC’s Legacy Circle, making a lasting pledge to support other families navigating the autism journey.
“Our broader community needs each other more than ever, and the autism community is no exception,” Greg says. “SARRC has already helped our family in countless ways, and we hope our contributions will help others just as much. Supporting SARRC means supporting a lifetime of opportunity, growth, and hope for individuals with autism and their families.”
