The King Family

When Stephanie King’s son, Urban, was 18 months old, he was diagnosed with autism. Looking for resources, the Kings turned to Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center (SARRC).

The Kings joined the JumpStart program, which was the beginning of their journey with SARRC.

“My family has been personally impacted; however, what draws me to SARRC versus other Valley organizations is its focus on continuous learning and innovation—and its passionate leadership team,” Stephanie shares. She has also been impressed with the organization’s education, awareness, research and innovation.

Those qualities and experiences motivated the Kings to join SARRC’s Legacy Circle.

“Your children are your legacy in this world. SARRC’s success is my son, Urban’s, success,” Stephanie explains of their decision, sharing that she hopes the impact of their legacy commitment brings the gift of hope and community for individuals and families impacted by autism.

In addition to being a Legacy Circle donor, Stephanie, who works in financial services for Charles Schwab & Company, also sits on SARRC’s Professional Advisory Committee. She volunteers with two other nonprofits, as well—CFP Board’s Discipline & Ethics Commission, and Arizona Women’s Leadership Forum.

She enjoys volunteering, saying, “When you focus on doing good for others, you get the benefit of doing good for yourself (i.e. feel better, happier, decreases stress, increases life expectancy).”

A graduate of Arizona State University, she has lived in the Phoenix area on and off for 20 years and says the achievement she is most proud of is being a mom to her two children, Urban and Walker.
