Julie Alpert

More than a decade ago, Julie Alpert and her husband, Gregg, attended SARRC’s Annual Community Breakfast. She had some familiarity with autism as her adult cousin had an autism diagnosis.

“I knew it was difficult for my aunt and uncle to raise their family of four children with limited autism resources for their son,” Julie shares.

The breakfast ignited the Alperts’ passion to become involved with SARRC.

“We knew very little about SARRC before attending the breakfast, but left with a strong desire to get involved, both financially and with our time. We knew SARRC’s programs were making a difference in our community and felt we could share SARRC’s story and mission.”

When her husband Gregg passed away a few years later, the outpouring of love and support Alpert and her children received moved her even more.

“I knew one of the best ways to heal one’s heart was to do something for someone else,” she says.

Since then, Alpert and her three children have all volunteered for SARRC.

She also recently made the decision to make a multiyear gift through SARRC’s Multiyear Visionary Partner (MVP) program, where donors have the opportunity to make an annual gift of five years or more that will be invested in the organization’s vital programs, services and research.

“The sincerity, transparency, expertise and commitment shared by everyone I met at SARRC made my decision to become a MVP an easy one!” she says. “By becoming a multiyear donor, I know SARRC will be able to count on my dollars for several years to come and can include those dollars in their annual budget. SARRC’s goal of providing services to families throughout Arizona in the next several years, as well as operating 10 Community Schools by the year 2030, can’t be accomplished without a steady stream of income.”

She says she hopes to see SARRC expand its services to every resident in Arizona and eventually several other states through an online service or through additional Community Schools.

For Alpert, her experience with SARRC has come full-circle. This year, she was co-chair of the 21st Annual Community Breakfast and looks forward to co-chairing the event again in 2020.

“As a supporter of SARRC, my goal is to expose as many people as possible to their services, mission and research. Every time I visit SARRC, I walk away with new information that reaffirms how committed SARRC is to helping our community, and feel fortunate to be a part of this great organization!”
