JumpStart takes place over the course of five weeks and provides state-of-the-art information, support, and training for parents of children up to age 6 who have recently been diagnosed with or are at risk for ASD. Parents receive information on the most critical topics for families of newly diagnosed children. They learn about characteristics of ASD, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and how to begin improving communication, reducing problem behaviors, accessing state services, and coordinating with service providers.
JumpStart sessions take place every Tuesday and Thursday. Schedule is as follows:
- Tuesday, Mar. 13: 8:30–11:00 a.m.
- Thursday, Mar. 15: 8:30–11:00 a.m.
- Tuesday, Mar. 20: 8:30–11:00 a.m.
- Thursday, Mar. 22: 8:30–11:00 a.m.
- Tuesday, Mar. 27: 8:30–11:00 a.m.
- Thursday, Mar. 29: 8:30–11:00 a.m.
- Tuesday, Apr. 3: 8:30 – 11:00 a.m.
- Thursday, Apr. 5: 8:30–11:00 a.m.
Note: Orientation will take place on Mar. 6 from 8–10 a.m. and a follow-up session for parents only is scheduled for April 12 from 9-11 a.m.
