Dr. Betsy Clawson Addressing Feeding Issues For Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders

Sponsored by Jaburg and Wilk, in collaboration with SARRC and P.O.P.S.I.C.L.E., this feeding training series is designed to offer trainings featuring national speakers with expertise in feeding issues specific to ASD. Eating and feeding issues for individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) can be complex. The framework for these trainings will address the interplay of ASD characteristics and the treatment of feeding issues. Participants attending this series will learn about biological factors, traumatic feeding experiences or other behavioral issues that may result in feeding issues. Key features of this series will focus on family support intervention using a trandisciplinary approach, options for support emphasizing social emotional development and intervention based on Applied Behavior Analysis with consideration for kids that need to be medically managed.
This presentation will be open to the community and is recommended for parents, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, clinical interventionists, and others with an interest in eating and feeding issues specific to children with ASD.
